I made this cast of my breasts before I had my surgery in 2023, as part of my process of saying goodbye. I still plan on painting it, but every time I go to paint it, I cannot think of what to do with it; everything feels too final, and I worry that I might change my mind, and I would not be able to go back and undo it, because that body does not exist anymore. For now, I will leave it blank and perhaps one day, when I have truly processed everything, I will feel able to paint it.
